Swamp Donkey Motel
The facility can comfortably accommodate large groups (62 max), in varying cabin styles. This includes 7 double cabins, 3 x 4 sleeper dorm rooms and 3 x 12 sleeper dorm rooms.
We can also accommodate smaller groups of 20 – 36 in dorm style rooms ONLY with a shared ablution block, for a more affordable price.
All accommodation includes bedding but excludes towels. Please remember to bring your own towels.
The courtyard has a fire pit surrounded by benches, a braai area that opens out onto a jetty leading into a small dam.
Swamp Donkey Motel is located on the banks of the Berg River, so bring along your swimming costumes, lilos and other non-motorised water floaties.
The main venue space is equipped to host a 120 people for a function. 62 of which can be accommodated at Swamp Donkey Motel directly. The balance of your guests can easily be accommodated on-site at our other venues. These venues must be booked separately.
Firewood can be pre-arranged and bought at R100 for 50 pieces.
Each morning, we’ll come by to clean the kitchen and wash up any dishes from your meals so you can focus on relaxing instead of doing chores when you get back from exploring the surrounding areas.
Check in is 2pm-6pm and check out is 10 am, early check in or late check out can be arranged prior to arrival via email and a R250 fee will be charged.
Guests will be sent the gate code as well as their on- site contact the day before check in via WhatsApp.
We provide river water for showers and dam tubs, filtered water for drinking will be available in your unit. This is to sustain the farm and give back to nature.
No TV and limited cell phone signal available.
Activities
Swimming: The river can be used for swimming as well as the dam in front of the main entertainment space.
Canoe or SUP can be arranged at an additional cost of R200per item for the day.
Extra Services
This Property is self-catering.
A Spit braai can be arranged by a trusted service provider (lamb is standard but other options can be arranged).
Groups of 15 and up from *R255 – R450pp – please ask for a quote, group size dependent.
Spit includes:
- 500 Grams raw meat (bone-in) per person
- Curry Pasta Salad
- Coleslaw salad
- Onions and Potatoes
- Garlic Bread
(Vegetarian, vegan, and special dietary requirements can be catered for – additional costs may be incurred)
